THE FRATERNITY AOC CÔTES
DU VENTOUX

The fraternity of the Côtes du Ventoux wine growers revived the tradition that lived from the 15th century until the 19th century in many villages that compose the regional designation.
Those fraternities that were often placed under the protection of Saint Mark have existed in Carpentras, Mormoiron, Flassan, Malaucène, Pernes, Saint-Didier, Saint-Pierre de Vassols. On 2nd June 1982, a handful of people united by their love for wine and the location decided to revive all those ancient fraternities under a flag baring the « Poudadouïre ».

The aim of the Fraternity of the Côtes du Ventoux Wine Makers is to support, help and develop all activity that may give visibility and enhance the appreciation of the region designation’s wines.
The first round was held in CARPENTRAS, on 30th May 1983. For the very first time people could see the splendid green outfit worn by the members of the Great Counsel, who walked in after the heralds of the Fraternity.
The ceremony for the introduction of new members is composed by the tasting round then the oath. Following that the new comer is given his wine taster engraved with the Poudadouïre, the Fraternity emblem.

The Fraternity, supported by all the Côtes du Ventoux wine makers, has launched actions orientated towards giving more visibility to this exceptional region over shed by the Géant de Provence (The Provence Giant – Ventoux mountain, highest local mountain - ndt) and enhancing the glory of wine to make it reach further and to guarantee that its quality remains as high as the efforts of men made it.
