BETWEEN
VENTOUX AND THE DENTELLES

DISCOVERY ITINERARY

The Wine road leaves Vaison-la-Romaine and follows the Ouvèze river, to the village of Entrechaux, distinguished by the lacy stone of the medieval castle.
Chapels and castles stand along this itinerary, in Malaucène, Le Barroux and Beaumes-de-Venise, home to a splendid Romanesque chapel standing amidst the vineyards.
The strong, beautiful architecture is on a par with the powerful landscapes and land.
Off the beaten path combines vines and architecture, taking you to the village of Le Crestet, crowned by a castle and affording beautiful views over the mountainous surroundings.
The second stop is in Beaumont-du-Ventoux, a series of mountain hamlets and Romanesque chapels in a lovely, fragrant valley.
The Vintner path takes you into the heart of a wine estate in Le Barroux, and the proposed Terroir Hike leads you to a jewel of Romanesque architecture.

«It was the eighth day, and God saw that there remained the earth and rocks he had removed from the mountains to hollow out the Ouvèze valley. God decided not to make another high mountain, for Mont Ventoux was perfect, so He shaped the earth into a tangle of hills full of intricate shapes and directions. He draped a vast robe of vines, opposing the gaiety of the wine to the coolness of the Ouvèze waters … and called this strange convolution “Mons Mirabilis” – Admirable mountain».
P. Ollivier, Au soleil du Ventoux
