On the way to the Sault plateau, a series of hill fields and lookout points take you from the fertile, irrigated plains of Provence to the more arid highlands of Provence, land of sweeping panoramas of the Comtat area.

DISCOVERY ITINERARY

The Wine road travels along the green Auzon river valley, and goes westward in the direction of Sault, via the villages of Mazan and Mormoiron, offering lovely views of the region along the way.
At the base of Mont Ventoux lies Villes-sur-Auzon, the starting point for excursions in the Nesque river canyons, to Sault and the lavender fields on the high plateaus.
Off the beaten path proposes a variety of sensations: the first leaves Mazan by the cemetery and travels to Mormoiron on the low road.
Olive groves gradually give way to vineyards as you drive to Flassan, the foothills of the mountain. The second road has more contrast.
It leaves Mormoiron and climbs through gypsum deposits to a corniche road which leads to Blauvac, via the celestial site called Notre Dame des Anges.
The mountainous hemicycle you discover here, called the “Arc comtadin” is well worth the detour.
The Vintner Path is aristocratic and winds through the property of Château Pesquié, an 18th century bastide in Mormoiron.
Two terroir hikes start from Mormoiron, one through the Montagne Rouge toward Villes-sur-Auzon, and the other to the Notre Dame des Anges lookout point towards Blauvac.
